Today, we will engage in activities using morphology and gradience to enrich and expand students\u2019 vocabulary.<\/p>\n<h2>About the Presenter<\/h2>\n<p>Heidi Conzelmann has been teaching in McKinleyville for 35 years. While she has &#8220;covered the spread&#8221; in Elementary school, she considers 4th grade her happy place! The Dialogic Reading approach is an interactive, developmentally informed approach that engages children by making the most of their natural tendency to learn best from active participation. This approach supports 21st-century skills like communication and critical thinking while building foundational pre-literacy skills such as vocabulary, concepts of print, and story comprehension. Dialogic Reading is best used in small groups, so this is the perfect session for paraprofessionals and teachers who utilize small groupings in their daily schedules.<\/p><h2>About the Presenter<\/h2><p>Gloria Topolewski has supported young children's learning and development and promoted family engagement for nearly two decades in Humboldt County. In her current role as the California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) Region 1 lead, she shares research-based, developmentally-informed practices for supporting preschool-TK-aged children's learning by providing hands-on, minds-on professional development sessions to UPK teachers and providers in the North Coast region.
